Mamiya time

I really love the Mamiya C330, might take a bit of time to sort out the settings for a shot but the results are worthwhile.   The detail in the prints are exceptional, I get them developed and printed 6″x6″.  To get these prints into my computer I simply scan them with my old flatbed.  Its a shame you cant see how crystal clear and sharp the prints really are but in a certain way the imperfections the scanner adds do not detract from the image.

Here are a couple of pictures from the latest roll of Ilford film.

Film time

So I finally finished the roll of film that was in my Pentax Spotmatic and went and got it developed!!!

a few nice shots in it but I really need a negative scanner because paying to get the prints and then scanning them in on my filthy dusty scanner is rubbish :-( i just cant get rid of the dust on it grrrr!!!!  roll on xmas break so I can take lots of pictures :-)

heres a couple of unedited pics, all from a cheap roll of fuji iso400 in my spotmatic with the brilliant super takumar 50mm f1.4

Alice in wonderland

DSC_9765

Well this was yesterday….

Shot up at Haughmond hill near Shrewsbury with Hannah as Alice wearing an outfit designed and made by Naomi.

I used my 50mm Takumar for 90% of the time with my 70-300mm nikkor being used for the rest.

To get us all together at Haughmond hill at the same time it meant it had to be at 1pm which was less than ideal light for me to work with and I was without the use of a reflector so I had to make do with the natural light.  It was also a Sunday so it was so busy up there so we headed off the beaten track to avoid funny looks and to allow the model to change clothes.  I think its safe to say we had fun doing a shoot like this and even the dogs enjoyed running about up there.

The last two pictures are of Naomi and Hannah (complete with Walter & Bracken who helped)

No more uni work!!

Well at long last I had my last day of term at uni yesterday :-) but the bad thing is I started my new term today, which sucks. But at least all the late nights are done with for a few weeks now until they hand out the next bunch of assignments.So….due to all this free time of mine I thought I would explain a couple of old photos of mine.

The lovely woman in these two photographs is Hannah Roper.  I took these two photographs on my Pentax Spotmatic 2 35mm film SLR.  I had the super takumar 50mm f1.4 lens fitted and both these shots were taken at f1.4 (hence the softness in them) but I really like the mood that this creates in the shots.  We were just mooching around the woods looking for good places to take photos and most of my shots were on digital which can be found here

out in the garden

So I should have actually taken my camera out with an actual aim to shoot a specific image but I didn’t today. To be honest I didn’t take my camera out at all until late this afternoon with the light fading.  I take Naomis picture pretty much everyday for her blog so we just headed into the garden to take a quick snap.

It’s taken with my trusty Takumar 50mm f1.4 lens, but I cant actually use it at f1.4 because of the adaptor needed to make it fit my digital Nikon D50. At least it means I can use all the Takumar lenses which are m42 screw thread on my nikon F-mount body but you can’t use them wide open and you have to do everything manually (focus, aperture, shutter speed, ISO) but I like this most of the time.  It is only really a problem when taking candids!!

Copmere

Found enough time to stop off at Copmere which is a lake near my house.  Went for a quick walk around with Naomi and took a few pictures with the 50mm f1.4.  It was raining and cold so we didnt stay too long but it looks a good location for some future shoots with some nice features out into the water so hopefully I will be back there soon!!
